Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a physician referral to see a Physical Therapist?

In Rhode Island, Physical Therapist’s(PT) have direct access.   This means you can see a PT without a referral from a physician.   I will need to know the name of your primary physician, nurse practitioner etc. for communication purposes.  But, you do not need their permission to see me.  Since, it is all private pay, you do not need an insurance referral either.

What can I expect at my Initial Evaluation/Appointment?

At your first appointment, you can expect to have conversation about what you are experiencing, what you are struggling with and your goals for Physical Therapy.   We believe strongly in tailoring our treatment to meet your goals.   The first visit will also include a physical exam to asses your strength, posture, flexibility, joint mobility and observe your movement.  You will want to wear comfortable clothing.

How long are sessions?

Your first appointment/initial evaluation will be 60-75 minutes.  Follow up visits are 45- 60 mins.
